A Gift of Covering: Wanderland’s Hoodie Drive for Atlanta’s Homeless
“In survival, there are five essentials: cutting, combustion, container, cordage, and covering.
But in humanity, the greatest of these is compassion.”
This winter, Wanderland is taking the principle of covering beyond the wilderness and into the heart of Atlanta. In partnership with Sister in Love and Fract, we’re launching the Wanderland Gift of Covering Drive — a holiday initiative to provide warm, durable Wanderland hoodies to those experiencing homelessness across the city.
Because while survival training teaches us how to thrive in the wild, compassion teaches us how to thrive as a community. The 5 Cs of Survival — and the One That Saves Lives
At Wanderland, we teach the 5 Cs of Survival:
Cutting – the tools to prepare.
Combustion – the fire that brings warmth and light.
Container – the means to gather what sustains us.
Cordage – the strength that ties us together.
Covering – the protection that preserves life.
In the woods, covering means shelter — a barrier between you and the elements. In the city, it means the same thing. Every winter, thousands of people in Atlanta face the cold without that basic layer of protection. A hoodie may seem simple, but to someone sleeping on a park bench, standing in a shelter line, or trying to stay warm through the night — it’s everything.
It’s warmth.
It’s dignity.
It’s hope. The Gift That Warms More Than One Heart
Each Wanderland Hoodie given this Christmas will carry a message of survival, strength, and belonging. It will remind every recipient that they are seen, valued, and covered — both physically and spiritually.
Our goal is to raise funds to provide hundreds of hoodies to men, women, and children experiencing homelessness across the greater Atlanta area.
Each donation — no matter the size — goes directly toward manufacturing, distributing, and delivering these hoodies in time for Christmas.
