The Wanderland Fire Policy

The Wanderland Campground

Fire Policy

At Wanderland Campground, we are committed to promoting safe and responsible fire management practices to ensure a secure and enjoyable outdoor experience for all. Our Fire Policy is designed to protect the natural beauty of our surroundings, minimize the risk of wildfires, and create a harmonious atmosphere for all our campers. Please adhere to the following guidelines during your stay with us:

1. Fire Rings Only:

  • Fires are permitted only in the designated fire rings located throughout the campground. These fire rings are strategically placed to maximize safety and minimize the environmental impact.

2. Collection of Firewood:

  • Please do not bring firewood from outside the campground. Outside wood could bring in insects or pest that have no balance in the Wanderland ecosystem. This could create an infestation of an invasive species. Please do not bring in wood. We encourage campers to collect fallen branches and twigs from the immediate vicinity of their campsite. Get primitive.

  • Do not cut, damage, or remove live vegetation for firewood. Protect the surrounding natural habitat. There are plenty of fallen trees and sticks left for you.

3. No Ground Fires:

  • Building ground fires, pits, or trenches is strictly prohibited. Fires must be contained within the designated fire rings.

4. Fire Safety:

  • Keep a close watch on your fire at all times. Never leave a fire unattended.

  • Do not use accelerants, such as gasoline, to start or revive a fire.

  • Maintain a safe distance from the fire, especially if you have children or pets with you.

5. Fire Extinguishers:

  • Each site has a fire extinguisher. Please use the fire extinguisher in the case of an emergency. For regular extinguishing situations see policy number 8 below.

6. Firewood Restrictions:

  • Do not burn wood that has been treated, painted, or stained. This includes any wood that may contain chemicals or toxins.

  • Avoid burning wood with nails, screws, or other metal fasteners.

7. Fire Bans:

  • Wanderland Campground may implement fire bans during periods of high fire danger. Please respect and adhere to these bans for the safety of all.

8. Responsible Extinguishing:

  • When you're finished with your fire, please ensure it is completely extinguished. Use water, not dirt, to douse the fire, and stir the ashes to guarantee there are no remaining hot embers.

9. Fire Safety Education:

  • If you are unsure about any aspect of fire management or have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask our friendly campground staff for guidance and information.

10. Respect Quiet Hours:

  • As a courtesy to fellow campers, we request that you refrain from making loud noise near the fire rings after 10pm.

By adhering to our Fire Policy, you play an essential role in preserving our beautiful natural environment and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all our guests. Thank you for your cooperation, and we wish you a wonderful stay at Wanderland Campground.
